Questions and answers

There are many stock markets and indexes. What determines which ones are included in this tool?
For most cases these are the best known stock markets with a higher volume of international traders. There is a trade-off between the request of the tool users and the capabilities to develop and maintain the webpages. In essence, the more the usage, the more the tool can grown.

Can I suggest a stock market index to be added?
Currently, there is an ongoing development plan for the stock comparison tool. The choice has been made to follow this first and then a review will take place. Possibly at that time we’ll make a suggestino option available.

There are more sectors than listed on your webpage. Why are not all included?
It is correct that more sectors are available. However, the number of listed companies within each sector that are included in our tool is limited. Therefore, in several cases there are not enough companies available for comparison and it is of limited use. However, as the website progresses, new sectors will be added.

How did you determine the sector for each company?
There are several descriptions available. A selection of these is usually made for the most relevant. There always remains a difficulty as a company can be in different sectors. We understand this is a trade-off.

Are all sectors weighted equally or does one stock market index dominate?
Each sectors is made up from companies of the different indexes that are included. Because these are not equal in terms of company types and the prodcuts and services they offer, an imbalance will occur automatically with some countries or currencies weighted more heavily. This has been taken into account when designing the tool and the selection of stock markets has been made in such way that the largest companies are represented and the balance is kept within reason and not tilted towards one market.

Where can I see when the tool was updated for the last time?
One the home-page Stocoto.com there is a date shown with the last updated date and time.

Is there live-tracking of stock markets?
Currently this is not available and unlikely to be available soon. This tool is not intended for traders that change position on a high frequency. The analysis shown in this tool also don’t have the accuracy in which a few hours of trading will make a significant change to the desirability of a stock.

The page has been updated according to the front page, but I see the same old data displayed?
There are some well-known issues with cache to speed up webpages. This is most likely the cause. Please cleare your cache and the lastest data should be shown. Often just refreshing the page does the trick.

The page takes some time to open and load all the graphs. Is this how it is designed?
Because there is an update to the data every day and needs to be loaded each time, there is a lot going on in the background. Please remember this is not a collection of static pages, but a tool to compare shares which comes at the cost of a small inconvenience.

I am missing an analysis. Will more be added in the future?
The development of the tool is always ongoing meaning that new analysis types will be added. However, this will be limited as the performance of the site drops considerably when adding too many charts. Furthermore, we want to avoid duplication of insights.

How is a reliable analysis achieved?
There is no purpose of having an analysis tool that is not accurate, so considerable effort is taken to understand the calculations and validate them when they were setup in our protocols. In addition, regular check are performed to determine if performance of a share that differs considerably from others has the correct analysis behind it. In the articles section there are several explanations how each feature is calculated and the underlying rationale.
