The stock market are currently covered by nine indexes representing the largest ones in Europe and North America and a selection of shares combined into the StoCoTo Selection. Each analysis compares the stocks within an index.
AEX
The Dutch stock market. It is officially named the Amsterdam Exchange, but the short name AEX is most commonly used. Includes large companies like ASML, Shell, ING, Heineken and Philips.
CAC
The French stock market. The abbreviatino CAC means Cotation Assistée en Continu, which can be translation in English to “continuous assisted trading”. Sometimes unknown to people, but with companies like Total Energies, LVMH, BNP Paribas, Airbus and L’Oréal it has many recognizable names.
DAX
The German stock market. The abbreviation means Deutscher Aktien Index, but the abbreviation DAX sounds more familiar to most people. The index from Germany. Includes giants like Mercedes, BASF, Adidas, Siemens and Volkswagen.
Dow Jones
The USA stock market. Named after the company Dow and the statician Edward Jones. Probably the most famous of all is this well-known index from the USA. Known brands that can be found here are: Apple, Boeing, Nike, McDonald’s and Goldman Sachs.
Eurostoxx 50
A virtual index with the 50 largest listed companies of the Eurozone. Most companies are obtained from the AEX, CAC and DAX, but several from Belgium, Finland, Ireland, Italy and Spain are also included. The biggest names that can be found here are Stellantis, CRH, Linde, Flutter entertainment and Banco Santander.
NASDAQ
A listing from the USA containing many of the technology companies. Although the name NASDAQ is well known, its meaning ‘National Association of Security Dealers Automated Quotations Stock Market’ is lesser known. Well-traded companies like Palo Alto Networks, Airbnb, Rivian, and Moderna.
SMI
The Swiss stock market. Its full name is het Swiss Market Index. A small country but with companies like Credit Suisse, Nestle, Novartis, Roche and UBS Group it has a considerable economy.
S&P 100
The Standard and Poor’s Index. Normally this consists of 500 companies, but to make it fit in the analysis only the top 100 are selected, hence the S&P100. Apart from the companies that can be found in the DOW, it includes heavy weights like Tesla, NVIDIA, Amazon, Meta Platforms, Alphabet and AMD.
StoCoTo Selection
A selection of stocks made by the webtool. These cover the most traded companies or have shown up in recent times as ‘high interest’. It covers the best known ones such as Apple, Microsoft, Tesla and Goldman Sachs. Maybe lesser known to the general public, but large players such as Akzo Nobel and Salesforce are also included.
